Love Poem
A Poem From the Vault
Love Poem was written in 2005 or 2006, initially as part of the aforementioned EP I was planning. It was to have been a song in that format, but aside from format changes, this one hasn’t seen much editing.
It’s semi-autobiographical, but also inspired by others I’ve known. Maybe you recognize some of this from your past or from someone you know.
Love Poem
by David C. Roberson"I love you." I wish I never said it to her. "I love you." It brings on so much damn pressure. Maybe it would do If she didn’t love me too, But now we’ve gone and said it— I wish to hell I didn’t mean it. "I love you." I had to go and say those three words. "I love you." Release my soul; it flies like a bird. "I love you." I know it really sounds quite absurd. "I love you." Too bad it leads to us getting hurt. On the night we got together, She looked into my eyes And said, “Baby, please don’t be like all those other guys.” Under pressure, I just nodded, And aptly gave a smile, knowing my assurance was an act of self-denial. "I love you." Babe, I wish you’d pick up the phone. "I love you." Damn, I wish you’d leave me alone. "I love you." Every word you utter is gold. "I love you." Shut up, please—this shit’s gettin’ old. "I love you." I just want to watch some TV. "I love you." It’s perfect when it’s just you and me. "I love you." You harp on me whenever you’re here. "I love you." Ignore that part—just turn off the tears. "I love you." I don’t know what for you is the best. "I love you." Maybe we should give us a rest. "I love you." Maybe I want better for you. "I love you." I know there’s one; the question is who. "I love you." I guess I’ll stay till you turn your back. "I love you." And say, “All right—now hit the road, Jack.” My name’s not Jack. Who the fuck is Jack!?

Beautiful! 🤩
